To promote public confidence and integrity in the child welfare system in Milwaukee County through objective, thorough and timely review of case-specific complaints.
Respond to child protective services concerns and questions of citizens related to action or inaction of the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare (BMCW)
Determine which concerns require review and in what manner
Provide INDEPENDENT reviews of case-specific concerns to assure that policies and procedures are being followed appropriately and make recommendations for BMCW action as appropriate
Affirm correct actions of the BMCW when applicable
Make recommendations related to systemic issues that emerge as a result of reviews
Prepare and distribute public reports annually that contain summaries of findings and recommendations
Regularly provide information to the community about our general activities
